Information You're Finding!

Fitbit Versa 3 Vs Amazfit GTR 2 is indeed a one-sided battle. There aren't many places where Amazfit GTR 2 gives room to the new Versa 3. From body to battery to features everything is better at Amazfit.

Amazfit GTR 2: Perfect Budget Smartwatch?

Released during the summer of year 2021 Huami reworked hard on GTR next incarnation. Possibly since reception of GTR indicated the fans concern regarding the design and overall built quality. So, when Amazfit GTR 2 hit the market it instantly became what the Chinese brand had envisioned for it:

An ideal budget smartwatch.

Yes, there were places where it lacked and even today it is not the best or most powerful sports watch, not like Garmin Forerunner 55, on its own Amazfit GTR 2 holds itself highly and mightily. For what it’s worth you get many cool features, ranging from reliable battery life (Huami special) to fitness solutions ready to elevate your lifestyle to next level.

What’s there not to love?

Fitbit Versa 3: Ideal Fitness Tracker?

By now I have lost count how many times have we talked about Fitbit Versa 3 at Chronoat. How many times have I tried to present it to our readers in a deserving light, and how many times have I wondered whether I did it justice or not.

Either way even if I didn’t or couldn’t let me try again: Fitbit Versa 3 is complete fitness tracker crafted to aid you with advanced analytics. Yes, reliance on Fitbit Premium service for access to better insights is kind of a turn off for many out there, I wouldn’t worry much about it. You can be fine without it anyways.

Amazfit GT2 vs Fitbit Versa 3: Almost Perfection?

Although Huami and Fitbit serves a vastly different audience. In vastly different geopolitical regions. With the release of Amazfit series a tangled up has have happened.

While I’m not sure how significant would it prove to be for future, one thing is certain these two are familiar with each other now. Even if they don’t believe the other as their direct rival, amnesty is there.

Question is where is complete perfection, or is there even in, in first place?!?!

BODY In Question

Fitbit Versa 3 and Amazfit GTR 2 differs greatly in terms of design. While Fitbit is designed more with symmetric almost squared shape Huami has given Amazfit GTR 2 natural rounded shape of a traditional watch with little bezel to define it’s design.

Honestly, in my personal view, I felt more comfortable with Amazfit GTR 2. Which could be because I’ve always been the first one to criticize Fitbit for lackluster design, there was one more reason and it was Amazfit GTR 2 is a vibrant product that despite its affordable price looks high-end and exotic.

Built Quality

Huami has classified GTR 2 in two separate versions. The first and cheaper option of two is called ‘Sports‘ and have silicone 22mm strap used to hold the smartwatch in place. Whereas the other one is called ‘Classic‘ and have leather strap in place to elevate the appeal.

Even though, this doesn’t have any affect’s on smartwatches functionality, for looks I’d prefer the Classic version, you can rock it with formal attire. However, keep it in mind, it is much heavier than the Sports version, so if you are someone who intends to use watch for daily usage, think about it.

Fitbit also have silicone bands in place, although unlike Amazfit there is no other other option to customize your health tracker. You get a 1.58 inch wide screen with almost no bezel and plastic rear end to hold up the backside for the sensors.

Display Screen

Both Amazfit GTR 2 and Fitbit Versa 3 uses the AMOLED display as their go-to technology. Making sure to provide a well lit vivid experience to the users. You can use them out in sun, or in the darkest night, you certainly won’t have much problem seeing the screen.

“Okay, but which one does it better though?”

I would say: “both of them.”

While, it is true Amazfit provides better resolution(454x454px to 336x336px) and pixel density(326pi to 301pi) to Fitbit Versa 3, we have to keep it in mind the difference in the screen size.

Display Comparison of Fitbit Versa 3 & Amazfit GTR 2

Fitbit Versa 3 has 1.58 inch wide screen to GTR 2 1.39 inches. I am not saying it is humongous difference, but it is and we can’t ignore it.

Resistivity Prowess

Regardless of what you might hear it is important to have safeguards in place to protect your smart devices. I have always fool proofed my gadgets with screen protectors after day one. It is good practice and it keeps them save.

Fitbit and Huami happens to understand the same concern…

As you would see both Fitbit Versa 3 and Amazfit GTR 2 are IP68 certified and as such could tolerate water level till 50 meter depth. Yes, in retrospect number isn’t insane and you could damage your device in extreme conditions. You’d still have 50 meter leverage on your side. Not to mention in the case of Fitbit there is also water lock functionality available.

Besides water ain’t the only natural property these smartwatches can tolerate, they are also capable to survive impact, sand, and dust.

FEATURES At Time

As we have pointed out earlier Fitbit Versa 3 is a health tracker, whatever it does, it does to provide excellence in fitness tracking, to make sure you stay up to dated with your body vitals. Amazfit GTR 2, on the other hand, is a smartwatch that is meant to serve the benefits of a smartwatch while making sure it can track too.

Sensors Sensing Everything

For any wearable it is vital to have correct and relevant sensors in place. If its a health tracker it would be expected of it to provide heart rate sensor, if its a sports watch GPS connectivity would be put on high priority. My point is every smartwatch has different criteria, and we can’t compare the one using the standards set by the other.

Look at the case of Amazfit GTR 2 and Fitbit Versa 3.

Since it’s Fitbit domain to work around monitoring and analytics you’d expect from Versa 3 to do the same for you, and you’d would be right. Fitbit Versa 3 have excellent command over various tracking metrics as well activities associated with basic workout exercises. For sure, much of its prowess relies on rudimentary stats and for advance functionalities like ECG heart rate or stress rating through thermal sensors isn’t available to it, you’d find the following with Fitbit Sense. If your needs don’t call for urgency and extra data Fitbit Versa 3 would be a great pick.

Sensors Comparison of Fitbit Versa 3 & Amazfit GTR 2

As for Amazfit GTR 2 it is not exactly health tracker, it can do what health tracker can do, it is not it by nature. However, you’d be pleased to know just like Fitbit Versa 3, it can perform many tasks that are not naturally responsibility of smartwatch. For example take Blood Oxygenation for moment, Humai has given the GTR 2 enough horsepower to let you know of your oxygen level in blood. Even when it wasn’t necessary.

Connectivity Ability

Like always there is also little difference between these two smart devices here…

You can connect both of them to Android and iOS smartphones. As a good practice make sure you are running possible latest version of OS on your phone. There is mobile application of both watches available on Play Store and App Store. Using which onboarding process can be easier.

Connection Comparison of Fitbit Versa 3 & Amazfit GTR 2

Talking from my own personal experience Fitbit has better UI for its application, not that you’d find Amazfit crazy difficult to navigate, learning curve there would take time to flatten up.

On the other front, you will get Bluetooth (Version 5), Wi-Fi (Version 4), NFC, GPS, and wireless sync between smartwatch and smartphone on either brand. Fitbit trackers occasionally suffers from GPS fluctuations. However, if you are someone who frequently work out in Gym and treadmill is your go to method, maybe turning off it would be better.

Wits To Out Wit

If you are not new to the world of smartwatches you’d know Fitbit are not well known for providing value apart from tracking features. Although Fitbit Versa 3 was improvement over its predecessor with addition of GPS after release of Fitbit Versa 4 one thing is apparent Fitbit will never be more than a health tracker, not when Google has its Pixel watches to market for it.

Wits Comparison of Fitbit Versa 3 & Amazfit GTR 2

Therefore, it would come to no surprise to you, Fitbit doesn’t provide smartwatch features very well. You can call and text, there are games to explore, and clock faces and apps to choose from and Google Assistant & Alexa are available to soften the blow.

If what you seek to have is a dynamic wearable on your wrist able to provide exotic entertainment features Fitbit Versa 3 isn’t certainly your device.

Amazfit GTR 2, on the other hand, is not ideal smartwatch as well, it can provide more than Fitbit. You get two assistants in shape of Amazon Alexa and Humai’s own. There is 3GB storage to save music on watch using Zepp application to listen during workouts. You can call and text using the phone. However, there is no third-party application support, you can’t download more than what’s already installed.

BATTERY Life

Despite what you might hear otherwise Battery of a smart device regardless of what it is is an important factor. Over the years using various gadgets one thing that I have noticed is an eerie trend has been developed. A trend that solely focused on functionality than lifespan. While, to an extent I get it, it should be anyone’s first priority to have a device capable to solve their problems, never sleep on battery life.

Fitbit and Humai certainly didn’t when they developed Versa 3 and GTR 2…

Lifespan Over Lifetime

On average and on average use your Amazfit GTR 2 can last for 39 days straight.

If you fell down reading, let me say it again: Humai’s Amazfit GTR 2 is capable to last 39 straight without a charge on casual use. If I am not mistaken, 39 days means more than a month, can you imagine how magnificent is it for it to be this way.

“What about heavy heavy use?”

Well, even on heavy heavy usage your Amazfit GTR 2 wouldn’t say goodbye to you for a week. Honestly, I haven’t seen much better battery performance than this in a long time. Which is pretty big deal, being a Fitbit enthusiast I have always admired its prolong lifespan.

Lifespan Comparison of Fitbit Versa 3 & Amazfit GTR 2

Take Versa 3 as an example, you can use it straight for 6 days on casual use whereas more hardware consuming usage can shorten the timespan to 2-3 days.

Impressive, just not as Amazfit GTR 2.

Charging Time

Fitbit Versa 3 can go from 0% to 100% within 90 minutes or so. If you notice long time, it could be because of various reasons, most common of which can be: age of the device, faulty battery in which case try to replace the battery of your Fitbit, or perhaps there is something wrong with your charger, for which you can try to charge your Fitbit Versa 3 without charger or with new charger.

Charging Time Comparison of Fitbit Versa 3 & Amazfit GTR 2

As for Amazfit GTR 2 charging time is little conventional. It takes almost 2.5 hours or 150 minutes for the smartwatch to be fully charged up. Although, given its long lasting support I think it wouldn’t hurt anyone waiting for such time.

Wireless Charging

Neither Fitbit Versa 3 nor Amazfit GTR 2 supports the wireless charging. Quite disappointing, if I may add, for now both companies seems to be focused elsewhere.

Fitbit Versa 3 vs Amazfit GTR 2: Just Perfection!

So to summarize what we have gone through:

Fitbit Versa 3 is ideal health tracker for rudimentary health tracking and activity management, it doesn’t carry the advancement of Fitbit Sense or sense of entertainment found in likes of Fossil Gen 6 or Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. It can be a great addition if your needs are not specific.

Whereas Amazfit GTR 2 is perfect budget smartwatch that does more than maybe it should have. However, since it is doing a lot, it does suffers from identity crisis and couldn’t excel in any one certain place.
