Salt Water Vs Fresh Water: Difference
In the world there are two types of water body you are more than likely to come across.
- Salt Water Body
- Fresh Water Body
While salt water is mainly composed of sodium chloride and other chemicals like magnesium chloride and sulfate, fresh water contains dissolved minerals that keeps its salinity level low. Objects can float in both of them – depending on the other various factors. What is the major difference between the two is their ability to conduct electricity.
Salt water is a good conductor of electricity due to the presence of dissolved ions such as sodium and chloride. So electrical devices that comes into contact with salt water can potentially suffer from the malfunction due to charged particles. Whereas the same couldn’t be said about fresh water. It is poor conductor and it is safe.
