Information You're Finding!
Fitbit Sense Vs Fossil Gen 6 is a battle of smartwatches and health trackers. While Sense provides better tracking options. There is no denying Fossil Gen 6 can hold its own as a smartwatch pretty perfectly.
Fitbit Sense: Flagship Series
Released amid the global pandemic Fitbit Sense has had quite a tenure being a flagship model from the Fitbit. A brand known for its exclusivity to maintain quality health tracking.
Fitbit Sense is capable to imitate advance analytical systems. Despite it’s pricing falling on the lower end of spectrum Fitbit didn’t seem to have been phased by it. They stuck with their vision to produce functional masterpiece, and it is safe to say they managed to land it well.
Fossil Gen 6: Modern Take
While Fitbit holds the ground in terms of modern approach to track vitals Fossil isn’t amateur as well. They have been here for a long time now, even longer than Fitbit. Yes, they took their sweet time to switch towards the smartwatch business I don’t think it’d be wrong to say they didn’t find success in it.
Despite the flag of retro novelty that their products hold high Fossil has never been the one to not take risks, and Fossil Gen 6 is amazing example of it. Arrived a year later than Fitbit Sense it has been a talk of town for a while now.
Fitbit Sense Vs Fossil Gen 6: Battle Of Flagship Level
I’m not surprised people find the need to compare these two, I did my fair share of it too. Likewise both of them have so much too offer and little to differentiate them apart, so confusion is indeed the right essence. However, it won’t be for long now, at Chronoat today we are determined to test the waters and find the answer to the question in mind: Fossil Gen 6 vs Fitbit Sense
Which one is better???
BODYÂ In Question
In context of how a smart device looks, I think it’s important to take multiple aspects into considerations. Else you’ll be opening yourself to potential misjudgment, and I don’t reckon anyone likes it. Hence to paint a beautiful picture of differences we are going to dissect the design of Fitbit Sense and Fossil Gen 6 into three phases, as you can see below:
Built Quality
Let’s start with screen size: Fitbit Sense is pretty big when you compare it to its counterpart in Fossil Gen 6. Surely, there would be many people who’d prefer bigger screens I’m not one of them. With screen size of 1.58 inch it becomes quite obvious and if you are someone who happens to have petite arms I’d suggest to think about it twice.
Fossil Gen 6 on other hand isn’t the smallest smartwatch ever too. You get a 1.28 inch screen with a rounded body and it’s honestly pretty dope. I have always been the one to admire premium fits and Fossil Gen 6 does have that aura of exclusivity. Make no mistake I am no way suggesting it is luxury watch or even near to the likes of Tag Heuer Or Tissot.
Whereas Fitbit Sense is manufactured with Grade A Aluminum. Which is fine, and I guess given it’s preference to put functionality above fashion it make sense why Fitbit choose to go for it. Although, I do believe Fitbit could’ve done a bit better here. Don’t get me wrong but Fitbit Sense rounded squared shape and appearance reminds me of Apple Watch (not the best smartwatch design).
For sure, you can change bands and adds the one for premium feel (more so if you small wrists) it still lacks and has the left room for improvement.
Display Screen
In terms of resolution and the dept of colors it’s once again Fossil Gen 6 that takes the cake here. Although, when you’d have both on hand it might not seem like the widest difference. At times, and during certain situations Fossil Gen 6 is much likely to provide better display than the Fitbit Sense.
And stats supports the statement…
Fossil Gen 6 | Fitbit Sense |
Resolution: 416x416px | Resolution: 336x336px |
Pixel Density: 326pi | Pixel Density: 301pi |
However, don’t be disheartened if you are the current owner of Fitbit Sense the difference mentioned above rarely becomes apparent to most people. Your Fitbit Sense stills have the smooth touch display, always-on function, and Gorilla Glass 3 to protect itself from the adverse accidents.
Resistivity Prowess
Both Fitbit Sense and Fossil Gen 6 are resistant to the following activities: Dust, Sand, Water and Sweat. In case of Fitbit Sense there is also water lock function to further provide a shield from large water body.
FEATURESÂ At Time
If design of a smartwatch is it’s heart then features can be said to be brains of it.
Let’s be honest the first thing we do after hearing about a new tech device is to search for its specification. As important as it’s design could be it doesn’t take priority over the actual features, and it is fine and it is wise of us to do so.
Think about it beauty of your smartwatch wouldn’t save your live if you’d fall down or go into cardiac arrest. However, fall detection feature or frequent heart monitoring might just be able to pull you out from pit.
Hence it is no wonder Fitbit and Fossil didn’t hold back here. Both of these devices are teeming with mind blowing functions waiting to be explored.
Sensors Sensing Everything
In retrospect if this was a battle between Gen 6 and Sense and the criteria of winning was the Sensors only. It’s fair to say the battle would’ve ended up in favor of Fitbit Sense. Despite the close calls here and there Fitbit Sense is loaded with tracking abilities. There is no denying it is a hoisting the flag of Fitbit vision of advance analysis highly and mightily.
With the Fitbit Sense you get access to the following integrated within your health tracker: Sp02 Monitoring, Heart Rate Tracking (ECG method), VO2 Max Analysis, Built Accelerometer, Temperature Sensor, Barometer and Gyroscope
For sure Fossil Gen 6 does hold the power of these as well. It is not like the Fitbit Sense. It will never be like Fitbit Sense with Gen 6. If you want to buy the tracker for the sake of activity tracking it shouldn’t be a debate here.
Fitbit Sense beats everything out Gen 6.
Connectivity Ability
Just as it is important for a smartwatch to perform and manage internal tasks. It is equally vital for it to be able to interact with other devices. After all being an IoT device the major operation any smart device has to go through is forming connectivity. Thankfully, Fossil Gen 6 and Fitbit Sense have taken the note well here, and both appears to excel at it.
- Both of are compatible with iOS and Android.
- Both of them supports Bluetooth Version 5
- You can use Wi-Fi on them.
- They will/can sync wirelessly to your smartphones.
- Both of them have the NFC transfer available
Fossil Gen 6 do have issues connecting with a MAC OS X it is not really Fossil problem here. Remember: Wear OS.
So you can say it’s pretty tied around here.
Wits To Out Wit
Although, it isn’t the same elsewhere too, for example if you’d peek behind the scenes miscellaneous activities you’d see Fitbit Sense holds a little edge. For sure Fossil Gen 6 have more storage (8GB to Fitbit Sense 4GB) and better CPU (Snapdragon 4100). Wear OS requires a lot of power to keep things afloat.Â
While it is true Fossil does get benefit of using it by getting the complete access to Google library of applications. Fitbit proprietary OS is too smooth and simple to be phased by it. Which according to some experts isn’t right move either, Fitbit is frequently criticized for lack of third-party applications on its utopia. Even though you can still download games, clock faces, and applications.
In any event both of them are capable to give you right to do basic and some advance stuff. Using them you can make calls, text with your friends, use social platforms, set up notification panel with your smartphone, play music, sync data to the cloud, set up passcodes to ensure security, set up alarms, and locate your phone.
BATTERYÂ Life
From what I’ve noticed the major issues most smartwatches users face after a particular time are related to battery, and it is not exclusive to just one company or brand. Almost every owner has once complained of their gadget dying battery life.
At times it is due to the internal problems leading to the shorter life span after each charge and you can do something about it. Sometimes there is hardly any choice you have left but to replace or axe it completely.
Fitbit and Fossil did take notice of it…
Lifespan Over Lifetime
In terms of raw power to hold the charge Fossil Gen 6 clears the ground. However, with 300mAH battery running its operation it would seem like Fossil would’ve better lifespan or longer lifespan, quite ironically, it isn’t true.
“What do you mean by it?”
Well, what I mean is that your Fossil Gen 6 wouldn’t last for more than 2 days without charging. Whereas Fitbit Sense can go on for 5-6 days away from the power source, even when it has capacity of 266 mAH.
Charging Time
Once again Fossil Gen 6 comes out on top here. Although, it is a close competition and Fitbit Sense can also be charged full 100% within an hour. Fossil has integrated Fast Charging mode into its flagship model, so you can only imagine how quick the results would with Fossil.
Wireless Charging
Let’s answer the question in two lines:
Fitbit Sense doesn’t have wireless charging mode.
Fossil Gen 6 have the wireless charging mode.
I don’t know why Fitbit is taking too long to do it already, they have the capacity to integrate the functionality, and given the rising industry standards it should be a norm for them. Hopefully, we will see it in Fitbit Sense 3.
Fitbit Sense Vs Fossil Gen 6: Retro Games
It wouldn’t be right to assume Fitbit and Fossil are made up of same cloth.
Yes they are interesting IoT devices that can connect you to the farthest part of the world and deepest organ of your body. Their approach to do so widely differs, and I think we should respect it, if not celebrate the determination.
Fitbit Sense is personification of health tracking system. Fossil Gen 6 is collection of ideas to present all-round effort of mobility. Either way they both hold certain merits and share the characteristics yet in their own way stand tall and apart from the each other.
