How to Connect Fitbit to Apple Health: Brief Guide!

How To Connect Fitbit With Apple Health

Fitbit is powering body analytics for years now. Millions turns to it for their daily check-up and vital insights. Yet in recent times a new trend has been noticed. Given the simplicity of Apple Health (native to iOS environment) many people have been found asking is it possible for a Fitbit device to track data and then said data to show up in Apple Health.

Now, I don't think I need to tell you why this question sounds absurd in first place. Fitbit and Apple are two separate companies who don't get along very well. But even then we have to admit that need of connection between the two is not wrong.

Fitbit is indeed excellent in tracking whereas Apple Health is perfect platform for data to show up. So, there has to be a way, because if there is not we will make sure you make one!

Information You're Finding!

You can connect Fitbit with Apple Health application using the third-party application like "Fitbit to Apple Health." It can easily work as middlemen to show your Fitbit data into your iPhone.

What Is Even Apple Health?

Apple Health (or just Health) is a propriety informatics health platform made by the Apple Inc for its portfolio of products. So you will have it on your Apple Watches, iPhones, iPad, and MacBooks too. It is integrated in Apple’s utopia.

Even though Fitbit have their own mobile application too which you can use to track your stats. The conundrum is that iPhones are widely used today. In U.S alone iPhones make up for 60% of mobile market share. Which means that great number of people have access to Apple Health even when they don’t want too.

Why You Should Connect Fitbit With Apple Health!

So even if someone doesn’t buy Apple Watch because they are too expansive they will have iPhone and Fitbit is perfect for health tracking for what it costs, making the unlikely partnership more likely.

Although, even if we put aside the size of consumer base and the role iPhones play, Apple Health is still much more easy to understand for a normal person. That’s not to say Fitbit haven’t done the work on their mobile application, they have and we love it. We have to accept the fact that in comparison Apple Health will always feel more friendly.

There is also another aspect of condensing the tracked data. Apple’s flexibility to connect with different channels allows far more options to a general user. Not to mention frequent updates keep the Health app toned up and ready to provide the best to it’s user. Something which can’t be said about Fitbit, not when delayed updates and timely crashes are not stranger to it’s world.

Two Famous Ways Of Pairing Fitbit With Apple Health

There are two ways through which you can connect your Fitbit with Apple Health app, but bear in mind that both of these are workaround. Fitbit and Apple doesn’t have a formal partnership to share the data between them, at least not at this moment.

Use The Fitbit App

The first but not at all convenient method is to use your Fitbit Application installed on your iPhone and then try to form the connection between Apple’s Health app. Through this method you can expect your Fitbit data to show up but keep in mind that this is not a good solution for a long term, if you are serious about the matter it is best to invest in third-party middlemen.

  • Launch the Fitbit app on your iPhone.
  • Click on your profile image located in the upper left-hand corner of the screen.
  • Scroll through the options and choose “Settings.”
  • Within the “Settings” section, pick “Apps & Devices.”
  • Access “Health & Fitness Apps.”
  • Opt for “Apple Health.”
  • Initiate the process by tapping the “Turn All Categories On” button, granting permission for Fitbit to transmit data to Apple Health.
  • Follow the provided instructions to grant Fitbit access to your Apple Health data.
  • After successfully linking Fitbit to Apple Health, you can specify the information you wish to exchange between the two applications.
  • To achieve this, navigate to the “Sources” tab within Apple Health.
  • Locate Fitbit in the list of sources and tap on it.
  • Enable or disable the toggles adjacent to the types of data you desire to synchronize between the apps.
  • Once you’ve made your selections, press “Done” to save your preferences.

Through The Third Party Application

The most used and much more reliable way of connecting Fitbit trackers with Apple Health is through a third-party application. By the way there are many in the market, I can write the whole article on applications you can use, so for the sake of the argument here we will only focus on one and that one is called Fitbit to Apple Health Sync.

Data is synced using 3 easy steps. After your first sync you can use One Click Sync!

  • In the app, sign into Fitbit.com using your account credentials
  • Pick the fitness fields (steps, sleep, etc..) you want to sync with Apple Health
  • Click the “Sync Now” button to start syncing your Fitbit data with Apple Health

Duplication Issue & How To Solve It Through Settings!

As we have mentioned many times before in this post since Apple and Fitbit doesn’t have official partnership and what we have learned is a workaround, you are bound to see some unexpected results. The most common of which is the issue of duplicate data. Since your iPhone also tracks data you might see in your Apple Health the data redundancy.

“So how can I avoid that?”

– Someone

To avoid seeing duplicate activity data in the Apple Health app disable fitness tracking on your iPhone. Go to Settings->Privacy->Motion & Fitness and disable Fitness Tracking.

Why Fitbit & Apple Don’t Form A Partnership?

Now let’s talk about WHY APPLE AND FITBIT CAN’T COME TO THEIR SENSES AND MAKE OUR LIVES EASIER.

Here is what’s happening there are few reports that claims that Apple is working on a smartwatch which will cater to the health tracking demographic. In simple words Apple is planning to steal the Fitbit’s thunder and establish itself for which Fitbit is best known for today: Fitness Trackers!

“So Fitbit is angry that Apple is planning to do it?”

– Someone

Yes, we can assume that they are. Or that are just scared. Fitbit is not exactly at the top like they once used too, and we can’t forget it was also Apple that stole their spot. Because from what we are aware off Fitbit do have access to all major Health Kit’s API (something which is needed to access data to send or receive it) and that does include Apple Health.

So the question why there is no Fitbit and Apple connection answers itself. While Fitbit support for Peloton stationary bikes and Google’s Fit further strengthen the assumption that Apple is up to something big and we might be in for surprise sooner than later.
