Spade & Co: On A Noble Mission?
In their own words, Spade & Co is meant to be a clear difference between the elite of the tech world and them. Their vision aligns with the common sentiment of being People Champions. While they hope to bring down the threshold to acquire modern tech, a few notches.
Isn’t it all beautiful?
On paper and in words, it is undoubtedly. After all, claims are made of frequent donations via non-profit organizations, which we should all respect. Their flagship product doesn’t seem to be following the same script.
It’s, in essence, entirely counter-productive.
At least, that’s what the majority reckons.
Spade & Co Health Smartwatch 2: Review
It is no lie market today is saturated with hundreds of excellent products. Yet with a bit of research, you can find yourself a perfect fit. Gone are those days when thousands of dollars had to be spent to become the recipient of quality.
However, just like always, the opposite also remains true. It feels as if the relationship between two ends of quality will always remain asymmetrical, and people have just accepted it.
Spade & Co Health Smartwatch is another perfect example of an unperfect system. Released in 2020 as a successor to Spade & Co Health Smartwatch, it didn’t take long for the smartwatch to land in the hands of people.
Advertised with the prowess of a fit fitness tracker capable of tracking steps, blood pressure, and heart rate while providing the usual features of any smartwatch. Not much later, questions were raised regarding its smartness.
How and Why?
Well…
What Is the Cheapest Option In The Market?
Everyone, or at least the majority, makes their decision with money in mind. Those who don’t: Congratulations, you made it!
And it’s okay.
Although, that doesn’t or shouldn’t excuse making poor choices. A significant appeal that Spade & Co Health Smartwatch 2 has is the price tag associated with it.
$60!!! Sixty-Dollars!!!
Given what is promised in terms of features and style it embodies, that’s a steal.
There aren’t many products in the market that PROMISES to provide the same and are priced the same. So, in an ideal world or in an ideal scenario where problems don’t exist, I would’ve been the first to rally behind the campaign to call it ‘one of the best smartwatches ever made.’
Sadly, it is not the world we live in…
Adequate Built?
It is not an easy task to innovate when there isn’t much to innovate. Smartwatches have to be a specific size. They can be modified with different shapes and built. There isn’t always much to do.
Spade & Co Health Smartwatch 2 suffers from the same fate.
Overall aesthetics of its building aren’t revolutionary. It’s how you would imagine a smartwatch when asked to imagine a smartwatch.
And is that a bad thing?
No! It is certainly not. We feel this is where they have done well. They didn’t innovate or bring something new to the table. Because they didn’t need to, not everything has to rock the industry.
Sometimes tried and tested formulas are there for a reason.
And that reason is that they are tired and tested…
Untouchable Screen
I still remember the day I bought my first smartwatch. It was Apple Watch Series 2, and I was excited. Not just because it was my first smartwatch, but the very concept of holding in my hand a watch that has a touch screen was mind-blowing.
Star Trek was finally coming true to my 16-year-old self.
And it’s been years now since that, even today, I put a display of a smartwatch or any IoT device if it has one very highly. Because – honestly – that’s the first thing that creates an impression.
And Spade & Co Health Smartwatch 2 does that.
When you have it in your hand and your eyes meet the display screen, it does look good. There is much to be desired. For instance, although it didn’t happen for us, many have reported flickering after a month or two of usage.
That can’t be good!
It isn’t, and perhaps the reason why the battery begins to take a toll much earlier than anticipated. Leading to longer charge times.
Deal Breaker?
Creating something that others can use to address their pain requires a lot of effort. You have to identify the people you’re creating the solution for. You should be aware of the problem they suffer. In other words, a plan is more than a need.
However, it doesn’t matter how great is a specific plan. If you can’t deliver right what you had planned for, it’s all in vain.
Spade & Co certainly did that!
Their plan of action was terrific. Creating a smartwatch that is accessible to everyone? Great. Creating a smartwatch that can measure blood pressure? Sweet. Creating a smartwatch that can count your steps and notify you about your heart rate? Amazing. Creating a waterproof smartwatch? Thoughtful. Creating a smartwatch that can work with both iOS and Android? Even sweeter.
But can it actually do that?
When a user buys your product for the features you promised would they be present, and if so, working correctly?
Well, that’s where failure creeps in: Inside Execution.
Upon close inspection, we found blood pressure monitors keep giving the exact value of a number: 141/81. Step count and heart rate are never correct when matched with designated devices. In one instance – over the idle state – it showed 56794 steps. And UI isn’t at its best or even optimized to make it convenient to navigate.
Their Plan? Amazing.
Their Execution? Not amazing.
Other Stuff?
Just like every other smartwatch you would ever come across, Spade & Co Health Smartwatch 2 comes with the following in the box

- Charger
- Band
- Manual
It’s nothing much or less. Just how it should be. Probably.
