What Is DND Mode On Fitbit?

Speaking from what I experience every day working at Chronoat and then managing studies is that we need all the help in the world to say focused. While it’s hard to say about everyone but I certainly feel that my attention span is getting small with each day. One could say there are far too many distractions now and one might be correct, there is no denying we need to find a way to not get disturbed.

Thankfully for us, that is where the DND mode on Fitbit helps us.

DND or Do Not Disturb Mode on Fitbit eliminates the notification that you’d receive on your tracker. Now those notifications could be of anything from that of calls, texts, goal celebrations, and reminders. It doesn’t matter. As long as DND is turned ON on your trackers. You ain’t hearing anything back. Unless you explicitly make the exceptions in the settings.

How To Turn ON The DND Mode?

Turn On DND Mode on Fitbit

Now that we understand what DND mode is on Fitbit trackers. Let’s look at how you can turn it on and put it to good use. Given that each Fitbit series have little changes, I can’t focus on one particular model. However, this is what you can do and expect things to work around:

  • To begin with, it’s important for you to become acquainted with the “Do Not Disturb” (DND) icon on your Fitbit device. This icon usually appears as a minus symbol inside a circle: or this: Do Not Disturb Icon
  • Next, you may need to swipe down or swipe left on your Fitbit device in order to locate the DND icon. You will find it in Quick Settings.
  • Once you have located the icon, simply tap on it to enable DND mode, and your Fitbit will confirm that it is activated.

But How To Turn OFF The DND Mode?

To turn OFF the mode just do what you did above but in reverse order. Once your Fitbit will be out of DND mode you would once again begin receiving notifications.

Although if you want to make exceptions like I mentioned above and just want to mute certain notifications you can do this:

  • Open the Fitbit app on either your Android or iPhone device.
  • Then, navigate to the Today dashboard within the app and tap on your Profile icon located at the top.
  • From there, select the tile that corresponds to your particular Fitbit model (the one linked to your Fitbit account), and then choose Notifications.
  • Finally, you can disable any notifications that you do not want to receive on your Fitbit tracker or watch.

List Of Fitbit Trackers With DND Mode!

As I said above almost all Fitbit devices have DND mode. However, there’re some of them who are really exceptions, and they don’t have the said ability. Mostly they are the old Fitbit models. The ones released before 2012 or so, but we do have to take them into account no?

So here you go Fitbit trackers that have DND for you waiting to be used.

  • Fitbit Sense, Fitbit Sense 2
  • Fitbit Versa, Fitbit Versa 2, Fitbit Versa 3, Fitbit Versa 4
  • Fitbit Ionic

If you have used other Fitbit models that have also them that we might’ve missed then feel free to let us. Either way, the ones mentioned here have 100% the DND mode on them and we have tested it.

Do Not Disturb Vs Sleep Mode!

Not long ago we wrote about Sleep Mode on Fitbit trackers and how it is a brilliant tool to give a boost to your sleeping cycle. Well, it’s time to shed some light on it again because DND and Sleep Mode are very similar to each other.

While both DND and Sleep Mode eliminates all form of notifications the one big difference between them is that Sleep Mode also dims the brightness, disables the Always On function, and make sure your Fitbit smartwatch become active again only when you tap the screen twice.

DND mode can’t also be scheduled like Sleep Mode.

Does Do Not Disturb (DND) Save Battery Fitbit Watch?

To an extent yes DND mode on a Fitbit tracker can save you battery. But by all means don’t use it to preserve the battery life of your health tracker. It is not meant for it and it is not Airplane Mode.

There is clear difference between it and Airplane Mode, which by the way is excellent tool to preserve battery. Although, if you are really concerned about battery life, then perhaps you should look into how to lower the brightness of your Fitbit trackers.

How Fitbit Monitor Health Activities While The DND Mode Is Turned On?

DND Mode is only meant for the user so it has no affect whatsoever on the working of the Fitbit tracker. Your health tracker will continue to work as it should even while under the influence of DND mode.

So if your worries are related to how DND mode will dampen the Fitbit tracker’s ability to track heart rate or Cardio Fitness, don’t. There is nothing to fear.

“I Am Not Getting Notifications Even After DND!”

Many times people have faulty or not properly set up a connection with their mobile phones that it ends up having zero notifications. So if you find yourself in a situation where you aren’t getting any notifications, check out these cases:

  • Make sure your Fitbit tracker isn’t under the DND or Sleep Mode.
  • Set up the connection with your phone and tracker to ensure the minimum chance of attenuation.
  • Check if the Fitbit application is running in the background on your phone. If isn’t it could be the reason why.
  • Update your phone and Fitbit OS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether or not you will hear your alarm while on DND depends on your device’s settings. Typically, alarms are still allowed to sound even when the device is on DND mode. However, this may vary depending on the specific device and its settings.

DND mode stands for “Do Not Disturb” mode, and it is a feature commonly found on smartphones and other electronic devices. When activated, it mutes incoming notifications and alerts, preventing them from interrupting the user’s activities.

Fitbit uses various sensors and algorithms to detect when a user is sleeping. These sensors can include an accelerometer, heart rate monitor, and gyroscope, which can track the user’s movements and heart rate patterns during sleep. Fitbit’s algorithms then analyze this data to determine the user’s sleep stages and quality.

DND mode will prevent displaying notifications or vibration of your Fitbit, thus keeping you focused on your work. You can choose what you allow and what you don’t want to bypass DND mode.
