Information You're Finding!

To connect your smartwatch with mobile you will have to turn on the Bluetooth and then wait for your smartwatch to show up. Once you see your watch click on it and accept the pairing request on both devices to complete the process.

What To Do Before Connecting Smartwatch!

To get started you should know few things before connecting your smartwatch with your phone. First of all it is very important that your smartwatch is charged enough. Many times when we buy the new watch it doesn’t come out charged or at least not enough to begin the pairing process, in which case your first order is to put your new smartwatch up for charge.

For smartwatches the best possible way to connect is using the Bluetooth

Another thing that you should be wary of is to ensure that your phone (the one you will use to connect your smartwatch) is updated to the latest OS patch. It won’t be the reason of your worries many times but it is a good practice to remain up to date. The same principal applies for the smartwatch. Update it. Ensure that it is charged and most importantly keep the both devices (smartwatch and phone) close to each other.

Connect Your Smartwatch Using Bluetooth

Your first step is to open the Bluetooth on your phone. For most phone you will have to also turn on the ‘Discover‘ mode this is to ensure that those devices which were never before paired with your phone can detect your mobile.

After which it is as easy as it can be, all you have to do is this:

  • Open the Bluetooth on your smartwatch.
  • On your phone search for your smartwatch by it’s name. You can see with what name it will be available to pair on the watch.
  • Click on your watch from the available to pair devices.
  • Your mobile and smartwatch will sent each code. All you do is to confirm it by clicking on the button.

Once you’ll be done with it the pairing process will finish and you will be redirected for the onboarding of the smartwatch with the phone. To do so you must have the mobile application of the watch. If it’s Fitbit tracker make sure you have the Fitbit app on your phone.

Use QR Code To Connect Smartwatch & Mobile

Some smartwatches can also be connected to a phone using the QR code. Like in the case of Fossil Gen 5 and those who runs on Wear OS 2. You can download the Wear OS application on your phone. Go to settings and then pairing.

There you will find the option to pair the new smartwatch. Click on it and your phone screen will show the QR code. Which then can be used to scan from your smartwatch to pair the two devices together. However, keep in mind this method is only for few smartwatches and not every watch can connect using this method. As a best practice make sure you are using the method written on the manual of your smartwatch.

Download The App On Your Phone To Connect Smartwatch!

Many smartwatch makers have there own application which you can download to your phone. For example if we talk about the Fitbit smartwatches there is Fitbit application on App Store and Play Store. You might have to have iOS 14 and Android 8.0+ to do so but that is not any problem, you can always update your phone.

Either way once you will have the application installed on your phone. Open it and begin the onboarding process (if it’s the first time you are trying to pair the devices). You will be instructed at each instance. Essence of connecting the smartwatch to mobile kind of always depends on Bluetooth so you would have to turn it on. If talk about Fitbit Versa 3 there is also Versa 3 controls which requires Bluetooth connectivity with your phone to handle calls – in which case it is mandatory to have the Fitbit application to handle the switch between normal connection and special connection.

Why You Should Connect Phone & Smartwatches

Connecting your mobile with your smartwatch can be very beneficial for both of them. More so if you have health tracker like Bellabeat Leaf which doesn’t have the screen so any if at all interaction has to be done through a phone.

Beside a smartwatch screen is small and not for everyone. So it is important to have the option to see your stats with much more room and space. Not to mention combine use of smartwatch and mobile also allows the fun possibility of both of them working together to control music, or in the case of Apple Watches you can use them to control Face ID.

Do This If Your Smartwatch Doesn’t Connect With Mobile

At times you could face the issue of non-connectivity. Meaning your smartwatch might face issue connecting with your phone. In which case we recommend that you go through these steps and make sure none of them are the reason that’s stopping your smartwatch.

  • Location: Always ensure there is little to no space between phone and smartwatch. They should be close to each other.
  • OS: Update the OS of your watch as well as of your phone. Many times it is the software which is causing the issue.
  • Battery: Charge your phone and smartwatch before you begin the pairing process. Some smartwatches have intricate onboarding cycle which could take a huge chunk of battery.
  • One Connection: Before you try to find your smartwatch in your phone’s list of Bluetooth devices. Ensure that your phone is not connected to any other smartwatch or Bluetooth device at the time.
  • Visibility: Like we mentioned above some mobiles required to be made visible for other Bluetooth devices to connect with them. Never forget to tick this box off.
