So we need a way to present all the cool data somewhere. In the case of Garmin there is Garmin's own platform, however, at times people want to find a more universal solution. Google Fit is one of those solution, but there is a problem here. One that we will discuss with you today while answering THE question: How to Sync the Garmin Smartwatches with Google Fit platform?

Table of Contents

Information You're Finding!

Garmin Watches can't be connected to Google Fit directly, but using the the third-party application like Strava you can sync the data between two platforms.

What Is Google Fit?

Imagine Google Fit as a comprehensive platform for tracking your health, harmoniously gathering data from various sources. By utilizing it, you can effortlessly monitor activities such as walking, running, biking, swimming, and weightlifting. This platform offers a unified collection of APIs that blends data from multiple applications and devices.

Speaking from my own experience, I typically don’t lean towards using apps like these. However, for the sake of answer your query, I decided to give it a try. I must admit, the experience was surprisingly positive. Google has invested significant effort into creating a smooth user journey; the integration process is user-friendly. If you have a clear objective in mind, you can even establish personal goals and engage in friendly competition with friends and family.

Does Garmin Smartwatches Support Google Fit?

There is where the bridges are burned down!

Google Fit doesn’t have the support for the Garmin Watches. So there is no direct way for your smartwatch made by Garmin to have the data hop to the Google’s platform. For your ease these are the companies that are own Google authorized list:

  • Wear Os Smartwatches (comes Pre-installed)
  • Apple Watch
  • LG Watch
  • Xiaomi Mi Band
  • Misfit
  • Polar
  • Wahoo

Since Garmin isn’t here, which is not a surprise. Fitbit is also one of them. We need to find another way to make a connection possible. An another way to make sure the data collected from our Garmin smartwatches is easily and fully transported to the Google Fit dashboard.

What Are The Alternative Ways To Get Google Fit On Garmin!

As we have established the fact that there is no direct method to integrate the two platforms. The only way we have to make the amends here is by using the third-party applications. Fortunately, for you there are far too many options, some of them free, some of them paid, and all of them ready to do the dirty work for you.

There are two great options by the way: first are freemium software’s called Health Sync, Sync My Track and the other is universal app better known as Strava.

This is a screenshot of Strava and no it is not how you need to set up Garmin and Google Fit, but this picture is just for you to know what you are getting in yourself.

Using Sync My Track To Connect Google Fit and Garmin Connect!

This particular app is available only for the Android users. So if you have iPhone I don’t think you need to read it, skep ahead. Anyways, moving on, the best way to move ahead is to download the Sync My Track Application on your phone, and then follow these steps:

  • Create the account on Sync My Track.
  • Once your account would be created. Ensure your desired tracker is selected. In our case, it is Google Fit. It will show a pop-up asking to sync all the data. Tap on proceed to synchronize.

This is it. Sync My Track will begin to sync your data from Garmin Connect platform and it will start appearing in Google Fit. Given there is option for both Free and Paid version, there is not much difference between the two. From what we have tested the main change is that it’s easier to sync the data on Paid version then Free one.

Using Strava To Connect Google Fit and Garmin Connect!

The best thing about Strava is that it’s available to both iOS and Android user base. So unlike our other option this is universal and it is free too. Yes, there is a catch here, Strava won’t sync your data from Garmin but it would do more than enough for you.

  • Open Strava’s app.
  • Go to Settings under your profile picture.
  • Select Link Other Services.
  • Tick the Google Fit box.
  • Enter the credentials required.

As mentioned above Strava won’t sync data like sleep metric, heart rate, blood pressure, weight, and oxygen saturation. If this is deal breaker for you then you should opt for other option.

“What If I Don’t Want To Use Google Fit?”

In this case I will suggest that you learn more about the Strava. Because not only does it help to sync between the two not friends platforms. It is also the platform itself. A perfect social sharing app for sports and fitness related activates.

There are also more applications, by the way, just like Strava. Which you can use as Google Fit’s alternative. Although if you are Apple or Samsung user and by user we mean that you have their phones then S Health and Apple Health are really perfect platforms. There is no need for a change.
