Oura Ring 4: All About The New Gen Oura Ring!

As we mentioned above Oura has so far worked on a three-year cycle. Their first ring was launched in the summer of 2015. So yeah, Oura and Apple entered the wearable industry at the same time. Next entry by the company was Oura Ring 2 and it was released around 2018. While the latest which is – at this point probably the most powerful smart ring available today – Oura Ring 3 was introduced during the late 2021.

Following the trend it is safe to assume that Oura Ring 4 should be hitting the shelves at BestBuy around 2024. But here is the problem: We are in December of 2023 and Oura has still not confirmed the next entry. Or the fact that it would be even smart ring this time or not since their has been some rumors going around that Oura might shift its direction soon (more about it later). In each case we don’t think that you should wait for the 4th generation at this point because a) Oura Ring 3 has got everything you might want in a powerful health tracker and b) Oura Ring 4 is still a fad dream for smart ring enthusiasts.

Price Speculation: How Much Will Oura From 4th Gen Cost?

Today, and I am not going to consider the sales and deals, you can buy the latest Oura Ring 3 for $299. For sure, then there is acquiring of their monthly subscription, but the important bit is that in order to get Oura Ring 3 you must have $300.

So, if we take this vague figure in mind and then try to draw our own conclusions then I guess it would be safe to assume that the next Oura Ring (whenever it will be released) should cost at least $300 or more. Because certainly it won’t be $200 or even $250 given the current economic situation things are only going to get expansive and Oura Ring is already one expansive thing.

May 2023: Oura Acquired Proxy!

Earlier this year Oura announced through their blog post that they are acquiring the Proxy, a company known for its digital identity signal platform, in an all-equity deal. Before we move further it should be noted that in the past Proxy has worked with several smartwatch companies to provide them to integrate smart pay option.

Now, I can anticipate what you will be thinking: ‘Yay we are going to get Oura Ring with smart pay option,’ because that is what my initial reaction to hearing the news. But here is the dilemma how can smart pay work when you need screen for it and no Oura Ring got that, probably not even Oura Ring 4.

Expecting These New Features In Oura Ring 4!

So Oura Ring 3 had pretty much everything you need in a health tracker. It had heart rate tracking. It had Oura proprietary health metric specifically designed to aid user in recovery (very much like Bellabeat and WHOOP). There was also no over the top graphics to see the stats. Which was definitely a plus point.
Everything was in a perfect state. Which does means that if and when Oura Ring 4 will come out it will only going to make things better. In which case we are expecting Oura to work on the following areas:

Enhanced Biometric Tracking:

• Improved accuracy in heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking.
• Additional biometric measurements, such as blood oxygen levels or respiratory rate.

Advanced Sleep Insights:

• Deeper analysis of sleep stages and patterns.
• Integration with smart home devices for optimizing sleep environments.

Stress and Recovery Monitoring:

• Enhanced stress tracking features, possibly including additional metrics like HRV (Heart Rate Variability).
• Personalized recommendations for recovery based on daily activities and stress levels.

Fitness Tracking Integration:

• Integration with a broader range of fitness activities and sports.
• More detailed metrics for specific exercises and workouts.

Body Temperature Monitoring:

• Integration of temperature sensors to monitor body temperature variations throughout the day.
• Correlation of temperature data with other health metrics.

Remember, these are speculative features based on general trends in wearable technology and health monitoring. For accurate and up-to-date information, it’s best to check the official announcements from the Oura company or other reliable sources.

Will Oura Divert To Smartwatch Market?

Remember when we talked about smart pay and how Oura Rings are not ideal candidate for these. Well, after much consideration we feel that within the future at some point – there is good chance that Oura might switch to the smartwatch market. Because a) there is only so much you can do to improve a smart ring, there is very little room in there and b) smartwatch market is a lucrative option which also holds billions of dollar in ROI.

Not to mention it is leaps ahead of smart ring industry which is still in its infancy. So, a potential switch of direction won’t be the most surprising move. At the end of the day everyone is trying to make money and Oura will not let go off any opportunity which might cost them dearly later.
